Red Traveler, digital jacquard tapestry in cotton and wool blend, metal hardware, rope,
190 x 240 cm, 2017
A new perspective can make everything seem rosy and interconnected. As a tourist, daily habits shit, how one uses their phone and social media, what pictures are taken.
I combine digital prints, my red adaptations of generic tourist images, with the digitally-woven drape in an attempt to describe the duality between image trend and image histories. The repeated skulls on the tapestry act as a literal and metaphorical arch: their simplified forms rendered in styles similar to punk patches or general merch to remind that this is not a painful meditation, but a human one.
